G.B. Frehner lives and creates intensely detailed works or art in Logan, Utah. In addition to his Psycho-realistic drawings, Frehner is a freelance scientific illustrator.

"Psycho-realism", the name given to Frehner's technique, is a new and exciting movement in the art world. The distinctive freehand drawings are obviously works which require an enormous amount of time and patience. Frehner painstakingly researches the subjects of his drawing, then strategically places each line and dot to develop the overall structure of his subject . . . "By producing a life-size or larger image of a subject with minute details, I try to reveal the inner workings of the subject; such as: its energy, its being, and its feelings which the subject either has, could have had, or which it evokes in me. Anyone who takes the time to experience one of my illustrations and to be drawn into it, will no doubt experience my feelings during the weeks or months of the drawing's creation."

Because of the endless number of images inside each picture, many people have raised the question of subliminal messages . . . "I think that my technique is blatantly subliminal. Art of any sort is worthless if it doesn't stimulate emotions. I want peoples' brains to be stimulated when they are viewing one of my pictures. However, I don't believe in advertising evil or wicked thoughts (there's too much of that in our society as it is); I'm into happiness and goodness. If something appears scary or frightening, then the viewer needs to look deeper-- with an open mind-- to find the peacefulness within."

Frehner has exhibited his Psycho-realistic illustrations throughout the country. His Man at Concert limited edition has sold out and has since sold hundreds in poster form. A collection of Frehner's prints is on permanent display at Utah State University. The Bob Marley edition is on display at the Bob Marley Museum in Jamaica.
