Notices of Friends lectures: Speakers for the 2018 Sunday Afternoon Books & Authors Series are listed below. 

Invitations to A Book Collector's Evening: The Book Collector’s Evening, established in 2011, is a way to bring together book collectors and book lovers in support of the Marriott Library and the book collecting community. This year’s event will be held again at the Alta Club in downtown Salt Lake City in March and will feature a silent auction of rare and out-of-print books, a social hour, dinner and speakers.

Invitations to the Friends Spring Banquet: The Friends Spring Banquet is held every April.



JANUARY 29, 2018 at 3:00 p.m., Friends Sunday Books & Authors Lecture, Gould Auditorium. Dr. Sylvia Torti, speaker, "Reflections on Writing CAGES, a Novel." Free lecture, open to the public.
FEBRUARY 13, 2018 at 6:00 p.m., Featured speaker: Rebecca Romney, rare book dealer at Honey & Wax Booksellers. Author of: Printer's Error: Irreverent Stories from Book History, with J. P. Romney. $60/person, reservations required by February 8th, 2018. Contact Judy Jarrow at or 801-581-3421. 

MARCH 8, 2018 at 7:00 p.m., Annual Clyde 20th Century Women's Archive Lecture. Featured Speaker: Dr. Marie Griffiths. "Beyond Tokenism: Centering Women in our Histories of the Nation." Free lecture, open to the public.

APRIL 2018, Sunday, date tbd. Hikmet Loe, author of The Spiral Jetty Encyclo, Exploring Robert Smithson's Earthwork through Time and Place. Free lecture, open to the public.
