Here you will find what to expect during the different stages of COVID-19 risk, and the conditions the Library must meet in order to offer services.

The Marriott Library's Phased Reopening One Sheet

Red High Risk

Closed to Staff and Public

  • All locations are closed to the public; book drops remain open and due dates extended

  • Most staff are working from home, except as needed to support critical operations. Staff in are following social distancing guidelines at worksites.

  • Library service provided via phone, text, email, social media, and website
    Staff are developing and offering online programs.

  • Resources shifted to expand access to online services.

Orange Moderate Risk

Open to Limited Staff, Closed to Public Current Phase

  • Library locations remain closed to the public.
  • Limited staff may return to work at closed locations, with adapted schedules and physical spaces modified for safety; telecommuting will continue.
  • Staff develop and offer regular online/virtual programs.
  • Library service provided via phone, text, email, social media, and website.
  • Bookdrops are open and return of materials are welcomed. Staff follow CDC and other recommendations to safely receive, quarantine and sanitize returned materials.
  • Some borrowing of tangible library items resumes via Home-Delivery

Yellow Low Risk

Limited Services to Public Resumes in Buildings 

  • Library locations will begin offering limited access to the University community, with adapted schedules and modifications to physical spaces, increased cleaning and disinfecting, and modified patron safety requirements such as face coverings and social distancing. 
  • Book stacks are closed for browsing and items will be paged by advance request and supplied through Home-delivery or lobby pick-up.
  • Online programs and services will continue.

Green New Normal

Normal Services and Access to Spaces Are Safely Phased Back In

  • Library services, programs and public access to spaces, are phased back in provided safety requirements are being met.
