Biography adapted from Artists of Utah and material supplied by the Artist.

"Every Summer of my childhood was spent on an island in Rhode Island. There is still no electricity there and one must travel by boat. We summer there now. Yes we have running water, hot showers, stove and refrigerator.

Five years were spent on the plains of Illinois where I earned a Masters Degree in Education. The mountains of Utah were captivating for 35 years. During that time I attended many workshops to learn everything I now know about painting. A recent move to Arizona and the beautiful desert seemed to make sense for painting in oils. My little adobe house is an artist's dream - a place to inspire creativity due to its tranquility.

Living in the West has definitely influenced my approach to painting the shapes, patterns and colors of the landscape. As a diversion from painting figures, I enjoy applying colorful striations based on land forms.

Painting of figures represent relationships. A new focus depicts women of the 30's - an elegant era."

Currently Jossy teaches classes in her home studio in North Scottsdale. She is comfortable using watercolor, acrylic and oil. She has led groups of painters to Greece, Turkey, and England.
