Paulmer T. J. Fjellboe

Paulmar Fjellboe was born in Odalen, Norway in 1873. He was a soloist with a choir in his home country; and then came to America in 1905. He died in 1948.

Once in Salt Lake City he became a member of the local Norwegian Chorus and was increasingly well-known for rather richly painted though quite similar views in oil of Utah's mountain landscape.

Biography adapted from Artists of Utah.

Paulmar Fjellboe's was one of the most fascinating of earlier painters/personalities. Paul Fjellboe was born in Odalen, Norway; became a soloist with a choir in his home country; and then came to America in 1905 with fellow Mormon convert, Christian Johannesen (father of famed pianist, Grant Johannesen). Once in Salt Lake City he became a member of the local Norwegian Chorus and was increasingly well-known for rather richly painted though quite similar views in oil of Utah's mountain landscape. Indeed Fjellboe's woodland mountain landscapes almost always looked good.
