Joseph Wood Bennion was born September 5, 1952. Bennion is a ceramist and ceramic entrepreneur. He studied at Brigham Young University where he met his wife, painter Lee Udall Bennion. Together they operate the Horseshoe Mountain Pottery in Spring City, Utah.
Bennion's work was represented in the Upper Gallery at the Salt Lake Art Center in 1984. He's been a member of Utah Designer Craftsmen, and is seen at work in a photographic reproduction on page 227 of Ward Roylance's Utah: A Guide to the State, 2nd edition. The Bennion place in Spring City makes an interesting stop among the architectural fascinations within that wonderfully preserved pioneer settlement.
