Linda Flannery was born in Bayshore, Long Island, New York in 1946. She studied at Brigham Young University and received a B.S. in art and science in 1969. Fifteen years later in 1984, she earned an M.F.A. in painting at Utah State University.

She taught art and science in Granite District Schools in Salt Lake City from 1969-2000. In 2000 she retired from the public schools to concentrate more on her art. By 2004 she had decided that she was too young to retire and returned to teaching full time. She became part of a team of teachers that teaches single mothers with children in Granite District's Young Parent High School. Challenging as this task might be, she finds it fulfilling to help these young women obtain an education to support themselves and their families.

Linda is the single parent of two daughters: Ashley 18, and Hailey 13. During her free time she now paints on location in Utah's mountains, cruises around the world or takes road trips with her daughters. Her favorite mediums are watercolors and acrylics. She has exhibited her work at Finch Lane, Springville Spring Salon, the Salt Lake County Complex, several public libraries, and in the Master's Show at Utah State University.
