Ortho R. Fairbanks was born in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1928. He has become known as yet another Fairbanks sculptor of significant reputation. He lives in Salt Lake City.
Ortho Fairbanks actually earned both a B.F.A.in 1952, and an M.F.A.in 1953 from the University of Utah. He taught art from 1960 until 1968 at the L.D.S. Church College at Hawaii (now Brigham Young University of Hawaii).
His work remains on view in the Utah State Capitol Building, where his art can be seen alongside that of his Uncle Avard, who was also his teacher at the University of Utah.

Ortho Fairbanks actually earned both a B.F.A.(1952) and an M.F.A.(1953) at the University of Utah. He taught for quite a number of years(1960-68) at the L.D.S. Church College at Hawaii (now Brigham Young University of Hawaii), has done some carving on very fine works for which Avard Fairbanks is exclusively credited, and lives in Salt Lake City today.
