3D Printing Policy

  • Policy Scope

    3D printers are available for use by all University of Utah students, faculty, and staff only. Self-use printers are available on a first-come first-served basis.

  • Policy

    The library's printers may not be used to create material that is:

    • Prohibited by local, state, or federal laws Prohibited by University Regulations or in violation of Library Patron Policies & Responsibilities

    • Is unsafe, harmful, dangerous, or poses an immediate threat to the well-being of others
      In violation of intellectual property rights

    • The library's printers must be used consistently with manufacturer's specifications and with posted approved material.

  • Fees

    Students, faculty, and staff will be charged by weight of print when using library provided material. Additional fees may be charged for use of specialty printers.
