Book Chapter

Focusing on the long eighteenth century, the Consuming Music collection of nine essays investigates such questions from a variety of perspectives, each informed by parallels between the consumption of music and that of dance, visual art, literature, and philosophy in France, the Austro-German lands, and the United States. Chapters relate the activities of composers, performers, patrons, publishers, theorists, impresarios, and critics, exploring consumers' tastes, publishers' promotional strategies, celebrity culture, and the wider communities that were fundamental to these and many more aspects of musical culture.

Stories of Reading and Not Reading in Utah is a site that gathers, shares, and archives stories from Utah residents about reading and not reading. 

 

Blog

The Dietary Assessment Blog is a personal blog written by Patricia Guenther that consists of random and systematic thoughts on dietary assessment research. 

 

Sourcebook

The Ethics of Suicide Digital Archive is a sourcebook that discusses the many perspectives and ideas behind the ethics of suicide.

 

Textbook

The digital textbook Research with Diverse Populations highlights the contributions of graduate students, professors, and librarians at the University of Utah and discusses vulnerability of research and understand how current dialogue about legacies of oppression and unconscious bias affects such research.

 

Anthology

The Project "New Eyes"® Program in the Czech Republic was started in 2007 by Steven Sternfeld and Michael Polacek. In 2008, a writing section was added to the Program, with Heather Hirschi as the instructor. This University of Utah Study Abroad Program ran for three years, from 2007 to 2009. In partnership with the University of Utah Marriott Digital Library & Project New Eyes LLC, we present this website and accompanying publication in order to help preserve as well as continue to facilitate, teach and establish further cross-cultural and language communication, exchanges and relationships among the US & Czech participants and others.

Selected Proceedings from Vu Symposiums

The Vu Symposium on Experimental, Electronic, and Improvised Music was founded in 2016 by Katie Porter and Devin Maxwell with the stated goal of encouraging discourse, dialogue, and critical evaluation of the state of EEI Music through performances, paper presentations, lecture recitals, or demonstrations. The first Vu Symposium was held on July 5-7, 2016 at the Park City Library in Park City, Utah and featured work by more than forty participants. Vu 2 took a different approach. Katie Porter curated and selected sixty four composers whose works were featured in a a day-long concert of fixed-media pieces on July 18, 2017. The call for Vu 3 will open soon, once dates have been reserved and a selection committee has been established. Vu 3 will be chaired by Devin Maxwell.

This site is solely dedicated to hosting conference proceedings from each Vu Symposium. 

The HIARC Conference proceedings showcases the presentations and speeches held in the J. Willard Marriott Library on March 14th and 15th in 2016. 

Proceeding of the first annual Emerging Technology Trends in Higher Education Symposium.  Issue includes selected papers, abstracts, and invited presentations from the symposium.  

 

Journal

 The Undergraduate Research Journal collects and celebrates the contributions of University of Utah undergraduate students from all over campus make to scholarship in their fields. 

The abstracts presented in the Undergraduate Research Abstracts Journal represent some of the University of Utah's students-work that ranges from all disciplines throughout campus. 

The Utah Historical Review is the journal of student history published by the Alpha Rho chapter of Phi Alpha Theta (national honor society) at the University of Utah. 

The Journal of Law & Family Studies is an interdisciplinary journal addressing a broad range of empirical and doctrinal topics concerning families, family relationships, and the and the law, and also explores issues in family and juvenile law as well as other family-related issues relevant to public policy. 

The Utah Environmental Law Review includes research conducted on land, resources and environmental law in the state of Utah. 

Open Research at the U is scientific research conducted at the University of Utah. 

The Utah Foreign Language Review purpose is to provide interdisciplinary approaches to literary text, advocate for diversity and inclusion, and promote social and cultural change.

The Social Dialogue includes articles created by students at the University of Utah that explore social problems that are timely, relevant, and contested. 

The research and articles and opinion pieces assembled in the Hinckley Journal of Politics  address a range of issues, examine the shortcoming of different systems in our country, the harm perpetuated by the systems of this country, and more.  

 

Conference

The Celebrating Women's Health Research in Utah symposium highlights the importance of sex and gender research at the University of Utah. 

The CPEB conference series has been a venue for a self-organized community of researchers to share and discuss the latest and most innovative ideas about Paleogene Earth systems.  

The National Conference on the Beginning Design Student is a national peer review scholarly gathering dedicated to the study and practice of beginning design education. 

The mission of the Utah Conference on Undergraduate Research is to promote undergraduate research, scholarship, and creative activity, done with the mentorship of a faculty member or others, through an annual conference.

The Integrative Health & Resiliency Conference brings together researchers, clinicians, practitioners, and consumers together in a meeting to discuss the latest integrative and complementary medicine techniques as well as approaches to resiliency.
